About Us: carly frey

The Owner/Founder, Carly Frey M.Ed., EdS, LPCC-S, C-DBT, ADHD-CCSP began the creation of The Journey Within Counseling and Wellness LLC in 2019. Carly is also a licensed school counselor and advanced reiki master teacher.

She has spent her entire life with a passion for helping others to achieve their full potential and to overcome adversity in any capacity she serves.

Having overcome many underdog moments and a rocky road in her own life including childhood trauma, growing up in poverty, and facing/overcoming substance abuse in her 30’s, Carly sees every human with limitless potential to beat the odds, to heal from within.

Carly has an undergraduate degree in Education from BGSU and a Master of Education in School Counseling from the same institution. Carly also holds a masters degree from KSU in Educational Psychology and an EdS in Counselor Education and Supervision from KSU as well. Carly is certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT) and is an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP). She has training in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Carly is also EMDR trained and provides trauma therapy to many clients.

In her free time, Carly is usually spending time with lifelong friends, her 7 rescue dogs, playing sports, enjoying music, and napping!

About Us: Alexis CRABEELS

Alexis Crabeels , BS, CT , joined The Journey Within Counseling and Wellness LLC in 2024. Alexis is currently working on obtaining her Masters in Clinical Mental Health counseling and works full time as a Case Manager with children who are in residential and respite care. She has spent the last three years working with children, teens, and adolescents in the mental health field.

Alexis has an undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from Kent State University. She started her Masters Program in August of 2022 and is currently in her last year of the Clinical Mental Health Program at Malone University. Alexis is also a member of Chi Sigma Iota as a result of her great academic success and dedication to the counseling field.

Her primary goal as a Counselor is to help others find the light at the end of the tunnel and help navigate all the twists and turns life has to offer

In her free time, Alexis likes to spend her time with her family and friends, binge watching tv shows on Netflix, and engaging in self care activities.
