Trauma Therapy in Kent, Ohio
I can’t promise to fix all your problems, but I can promise you won’t have to navigate them alone.
Your emotional wellbeing is just as important as breathing is.
I help the person who feels overwhelmed and lost understand what they want from life, relationships, work, and themselves.
Trauma Therapy in Kent, Ohio may be right for you if…
You often feel emotionally sucked dry.
Drained at the soul level from always meeting the needs of your family, friends and work demands.
Crippled with anxiety and overwhelm.
You’re going through the motions, doing what you “need” to do to “function”.
The smallest tasks feel like too much.
You are stuck in couch rot, no matter how determined you are to power through.
The tasks are all at the top of your mind, and yet you can’t take the steps to get anything done.
You know that past trauma and all that you have been through are playing major roles in how you show up in real time, but you don’t know how to get through it on your own.
Meet Carly Frey, LPCC-S
Trauma Therapist in Kent, OH
You understand the pattern. Now you’re ready to change it.
Maybe you’re successful, self-aware, and really good at holding it together—until you’re not.
You overthink. You carry too much. Your past still shows up in places you wish it wouldn’t. Your relationships keep hitting the same painful spots. Or maybe you’ve already done therapy, gained a lot of insight, and find yourself wondering:
“I understand why I do this. So why am I still doing it?”
That’s where I come in.
I’m Carly Frey, M.Ed., EdS, LPCC-S, a trauma therapist, EMDR-trained clinician, couples therapist, and licensed school counselor with 19 years of experience.
I work differently than the therapist who simply sits back and listens. My approach is warm, direct, active, and deeply human. We’ll get curious about what’s underneath the patterns, connect the pieces, and work toward actually changing what is no longer serving you.
I specialize in trauma and EMDR, couples therapy, ADHD, anxiety, relationship concerns, and therapy & EMDR intensives for people who are ready to go deeper.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before you walk through the door.
You just need to know you’re ready for something to be different.
Let’s figure out what comes next.
Therapy Services
-

Trauma & PTSD
Trauma can shape the way you see yourself, connect with others, and move through the world. Together, we'll gently process what's been holding you back, reduce shame, and help you create a life that feels safe, meaningful, and authentically yours.
-

EMDR
You don't have to relive your trauma to heal from it. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain reprocess painful memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing you to move forward with greater freedom and confidence.
-

Trauma Intensives
When trauma feels deeply rooted, one-hour sessions may not provide enough time to fully process what you've experienced. Trauma intensives offer longer, focused sessions that allow for deeper exploration, emotional processing, and meaningful healing in a supportive environment.
-

Relationship & Attachment Trauma
When relationships have left you feeling hurt, abandoned, unseen, or disconnected, those wounds can continue to affect how you relate to yourself and others. Therapy provides a space to heal attachment injuries, restore self-trust, and create a life where you feel more grounded and connected.
-

Trauma Informed - Couples Therapy
When past hurts, unmet needs, or recurring patterns create distance, couples therapy can help you understand each other more deeply, heal relational wounds, and build a stronger foundation of trust and connection.
-

ADHD
Providing ADHD assessment and therapy for adults experiencing challenges with attention, concentration, organization, follow-through, and executive functioning. Together, we’ll identify strategies to help you better understand yourself and take control of your goals.

I am not your traditional therapist in any sense. From my appearance to the comfort of my office, I aim to meet clients exactly where they are. I want counseling to feel like an energetic exchange. I am not your “nod and agree” therapist, I will point out themes and work my hardest to help you heal and get relief or repair relationships.
